United States Youth Conservation Corps – The United States Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a summer youth employment program that engages young people in meaningful work experiences on national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and fish hatcheries while developing an ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.  See Mr. McKInstry for information.

Scholarships

 

IEC Memorial Scholarship – SouthEastern Illinois Electric Cooperative is announcing that the Illinois electric cooperatives will award twelve scholarships in 2020.  Students have to be a son or daughter of an Illinois electric cooperative director or employee.  Applications are available online.  The online application and official rules for the IEC Memorial Scholarships can be found on the Association for Illinois Electric Cooperative’s website under Youth Programs. 

 

LaVern and Nola McEntire Lineworker’s Scholarship – This $2,000 scholarship will help pay for costs to attend the lineworker’s school conducted by the AIEC in conjunction with Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield, IL.  Information is available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.

 

15 Different Scholarships – Scholarships available for a variety of careers.  See Mr. McKinstry for details.

 

Gulley, Turner and Lambert Scholarship – This scholarship is for students who are going to play a sport in college, who do not have a full-ride and have good grades.  See Mr. McKinstry for an application.

 

Legence Bank Scholarships – is offering two scholarships.  On is for Academics and the other scholarship is for FFA members. Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Deadline to apply is Friday, March 27, 2020. 

 

Gallatin-Saline Retired Teachers Association Scholarship – They will give a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from Gallatin or Saline County who plans to become a teacher. Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Deadline to apply is March 15, 2020.

 

SIU Credit Union Scholarship – SIU Credit Union is offering 5 scholarships worth $1,000 a piece.  Applications are due March 31, 2020.  See Mr. McKinstry for details.

 

Arthur K. and Sylvia S. Lee Scholarship Foundation – The scholarship foundation is offering potential financial aid to assist students in your community to attend local community colleges.  The application may be obtained online from the Foundation website (www.akleefoundation.org) and submitted via email along with the applicant’s most current high school transcript. If you have questions see Mr. McKinstry. 

 

American Society for Quality Scholarship – The American Society for Quality is going to award one $500 scholarship.  This scholarship is to assist a student who plans to attend an accredited two or four-year college program or accredited Technical School.  Deadline to apply is March 31, 20020.  Information is available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.

 

Saline County Stockmen’s Association – The Saline County Stockmen will give up to six $500 scholarships to graduating seniors from any of the Saline County Schools and Saline County 4-H members. Deadline to apply is March 27.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.

Sons of the American Legion Bill Henshaw Scholarship – The American Legion is offering scholarships to students planning to pursue an undergraduate degree or vocational skill.  Applications must be postmarked by Monday, April 6, 2020.  Applications are available in

Harrisburg Kiwanis Club Scholarship – The Harrisburg Kiwanis Club will offer a scholarship(s) to Southeastern Illinois college (SIC) to a graduating senior at Harrisburg High School.  The maximum total amount of scholarships offered will be $1,000.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Applications have to be turned in to Mr. McKinstry by March 27, 2020.

 

Harrisburg Rotary Scholarship – The Harrisburg Rotary Club will offer a scholarship (s) to Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) to a graduating senior at Harrisburg High School.  Funds will be disbursed directly to the SIC Foundation for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters.  Deadline to apply is March 27, 2020.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.

 

SICEA ScholarshipSoutheastern Illinois College Education Association Scholarship will be awarded to a high school graduate attending one of the high schools in SIC District #533.  The recipient must be in the upper half of their graduating class and plan to complete a program while at SIC. Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office. Applications are due March 15, 2020.

 

Egyptian Health Department Scholarship – Egyptian Health Department Scholarship is a one-time $500 scholarship, available to a high school senior in Saline, White and Gallatin Counties, on a competitive basis, in recognition of a commitment to health care services. Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Applications are due April 17, 2020.

2020 Future Healthcare Hero Award – The South East Illinois Area Health Education Center (SEIL-AHEC) is accepting application for $500 Future Healthcare Hero awards for 2020 high school graduates attending high school in one of the following counties:  several counties including Saline.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Applications are due March 15, 2020.

 

Travis Martin Gaskins Memorial Scholarship – Travis Martin Gaskins was a resident of Harrisburg and a Harrisburg High School student.  In his memory, his family has endowed a scholarship to be given to a deserving Harrisburg High School senior.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Applications are due March 20, 2020.

 

Doodles for Google – Doodle for Google offers K-12 students an opportunity to display their artwork on Google.com.  In addition to having their work featured on the tech company’s landing page for an entire day, the winner will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, and the winner’s school will be awarded a $50,000 technology package.  For more details see Mr. McKinstry.  The deadline is March 13, 2020.

 

H.E.A. Scholarship – Harrisburg Education Association is offering a scholarship worth $500.  You do not have to be an education major to apply.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Deadline to apply is March 27, 2020.

Saline County Chamber of Commerce – The Chamber of Commerce is offering a $500 scholarship.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  They are due at the Chamber of Commerce by April 4th

Lions Club Scholarship – The Harrisburg Lions Club is offering 3 scholarships worth $600 a piece.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Applications have to be turned in to Mr. McKinstry by Friday, April 3rd.

 

Rotary International District 6510 Foundation Scholarship – Rotary International is offering two scholarships.  Each scholarship is worth $2,500.  Applications are available in Mr. McKinstry’s office.  Applications are due April 1st.
