East Side Handbook: “Student cell phones at school are becoming more common even for our intermediate age students. While it is not a problem for students to possess a cell phone/smart watch, it must be turned off and kept in their backpack. Students are not permitted to use cell phones/smart watches during any part of the school day as they are a distraction in the academic environment and could potentially infringe upon individuals privacy in the school setting.” Once students are in the school building phones must be placed in backpacks. If a student is seen with a cell phone out during the day, it will be confiscated and kept in the office until a parent or guardian can pick it up.
