Students planning to go to college should complete
their FAFSA as soon as possible.
SAT Test will be on Wednesday, April 12th
PSAT 10 will be on Thursday, April 13 th
PSAT 9 will be on Friday, April 14th
S.I.S.H.S.A. Banquet at SIU is May 2nd at 6:30 p.m.
Humanities Night is Tuesday, May 9th at 7 p.m.
Senior Honors Night is Thursday, May 11th at 6 p.m. in Davenport Gym
High School Graduation is Saturday, May 20th at 4 p.m.
College Visits
SIU Carbondale representative will be here at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 20th.
Scholarships
GoingMerry Scholarships – Goingmerry.com has several
different scholarships that students can apply for. Each
month the scholarships change.
Mensa Scholarship – The Saint Louis Area Mensa is
offering one $1,000 scholarship for a student who will be
majoring in mental health in college. Applications are
available in the Guidance Office. The deadline to apply is
March 18, 2023.
Golden Apple Scholars Program - Students interested in
becoming teachers in the state of Illinois may be
interested in this program. Information is available in the
Guidance Office.
Student Scholarships.org – This website offers several
different scholarships. The scholarships change from
month to month. Information is available in the
Guidance Office.
Illinois Chemical Education Foundation Scholarships
Students that are interested in becoming a Chemist,
Chemical Engineer or a High School Chemistry Teacher
should apply for this scholarship. Information is available
in the Guidance Office. The deadline to apply is Friday,
March 3, 2023.
Early Childhood Education – John A. Logan College is
offering a program in Early Childhood Education. There
is a shortage of workers for childcare centers in southern
Illinois and for public schools. Information is available in
the guidance office.
Norredden Gene Cowen Scholarship – This scholarship is
to help young adults enrolled in vocational or trade
school programs. More information is available in the
Guidance Office. Applications must be received by
March 31, 2023.
Marion Memorial Health Foundation Scholarship – The
Marion Memorial Health Foundation Board is offering
several $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from
surrounding high schools. This scholarship is for students
wanting to work in the medical field. Applications are
available in the Guidance Office. Applications have to be
received in the administrative office at Heartland
Regional Medical Center by March 6, 2023.
SIU Credit Union – SIU Credit Union is offering ten $1,000
scholarships. Applications are available in the Guidance
Office. Applications must be postmarked by March 31,
2023.
Gallatin-Saline Retired Teachers Association Scholarship
This year a $500 college scholarship will be awarded to a
student from Gallatin or Saline County who plans to
become a teacher. Applications are available in the
Guidance Office. Applications must be postmarked no
later than March 15th.
2023 Sons of the American Legion Bill Henshaw
Scholarship– The scholarship will be granted to assist the
applicants of Harrisburg in their pursuit of an
undergraduate degree or vocational skill. Applications
are available in the Guidance Office. Applications must
be postmarked by Monday, April 10, 2023.
Delta Kappa Gamma International Honor Society for
Women Educators – This scholarship is for students that
plan to major in Education in college. Applications are
available in the Guidance Office. Applications and other
material must be turned in by March 10, 2023.
American Society for Quality Scholarship – The American
Society for Quality (ASQ) Evansville-Owensboro Section is
pleased to announce that we will once again offer a $500
scholarship to a high school senior graduating from a
high school in our section area. Applications are
available in the Guidance Office. Applications are due
March 31st.
Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship – Each year the University
of Illinois, Illinois Administrative Professionals offers the
Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship competition to students
planning to pursue higher education in the office
professional, secretarial, or business-related fields. One
scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded.
Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The
deadline to receive all materials is Monday, March 13,
2023.
Legence Bank Academic Scholarship – Legence Bank will
be awarding five $500 scholarships. Students must have
a “B” average. Applications are available in the Guidance
Office. Applications are due by March 24, 2023.
Legence Bank FFA Scholarship – Legence Bank will be
awarding five $500 scholarships. Students must have a
“B” average. Applications are available in the Guidance
Office. Applications are due by March 24, 2023.
Egyptian Public & Mental Health Scholarship – This
scholarship is for students that plan to major in Human
Service/Health Care Service. Applications are available in
the Guidance Office. Applications have to be received by
April 14, 2023.
Rotary International District 6510 Foundation 2023
Scholarship – Two scholarships worth $2,500 each will be
awarded. Students have to have a “B” or better average
for this scholarship. There are several other
requirements for this scholarship. Applications are
available for this scholarship. The deadline to apply is
April 1st.
Rotary Servant Leader Scholarship – Two scholarships
worth $2,500 will be awarded. Students have to have a
“B” or better average for this scholarship. There are
several other requirements for this scholarship.

deadline to apply is May 1st.
Ferrell Hospital Scholarship – Ferrell Hospital is offering a
scholarship to a student interested in the healthcare
field. Applications to apply are available in the Guidance
Office. Applications are due by March 15, 2023.
Harrisburg Elks Scholarship – One winning senior from
the Harrisburg Elks district will receive a $750
scholarship. Applications are available in the Guidance
Office. Applications are due by April 30, 2022.
Displaced Energy Worker Dependent Transition
Scholarship Program – The Illinois Student Assistance
Commission has launched the Displaced Energy Worker
Dependent Transition Scholarship Program. The
scholarship pays tuition and fee costs at public colleges
or community colleges for one calendar year.
Scholarship applications are available on the Illinois
Student Assistance Commission website.
2023 Future Healthcare Hero Award – The South East
Illinois Area Health Education Center (SEIL-AHEC) is
accepting applications for $500 Future Healthcare Hero
awards for 2023 high school graduates. Applications are
available in the Guidance Office. All required documents
are due by April 1, 2023.
