Students planning to go to college should complete their FAFSA as soon as possible.

S.I.S.H.S.A. Banquet at SIU is May 2 nd at 6:30 p.m.

Humanities Night is Tuesday, May 9th at 7 p.m.

Senior Honors Night is Thursday, May 11 th at 6 p.m. in Davenport Gym

High School Graduation is Saturday, May 20 at 4 p.m.

College Visits

SIU Carbondale representative will be here at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 20th.

Scholarships

GoingMerry Scholarships – Goingmerry.com has several
different scholarships that students can apply for. Each
month the scholarships change.

Golden Apple Scholars Program - Students interested in
becoming teachers in the state of Illinois may be
interested in this program. Information is available in the
Guidance Office.

Student Scholarships.org – This website offers several
different scholarships. The scholarships change from
month to month. Information is available in the
Guidance Office.

Early Childhood Education – John A. Logan College is
offering a program in Early Childhood Education. There
is a shortage of workers for childcare centers in southern
Illinois and for public schools. Information is available in
the Guidance Office.

Rotary Servant Leader Scholarship – Two scholarships
worth $2,500 will be awarded. Students have to have a
“B” or better average for this scholarship. There are
several other requirements for this scholarship.

Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The
deadline to apply is May 1st.

Harrisburg Elks Scholarship – One winning senior from
the Harrisburg Elks district will receive a $750
scholarship. Applications are available in the Guidance
Office. Applications are due by April 30, 2022.

Displaced Energy Worker Dependent Transition
Scholarship Program – The Illinois Student Assistance
Commission has launched the Displaced Energy Worker
Dependent Transition Scholarship Program. The
scholarship pays tuition and fee costs at public colleges
or community colleges for one calendar year.
Scholarship applications are available on the Illinois
Student Assistance Commission website.
Illinois Association of School Administrations (Shawnee
Region) Scholarship – The only stipulation for this
scholarship is you have to want to work with children in
the future, either as a teacher or a daycare worker.
Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Please
return this application to Mr. McKinstry by April 11th.
Harrisburg Lions Club Scholarship – The Harrisburg Lions
Club is planning to award three scholarships for $600 each. One scholarship for a student studying nursing,one scholarship for a student studying for a vocational career and one scholarship for a student studying for academics. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Please return applications to Mr. McKinstry by April 14th.
