Scholarships

GoingMerry Scholarships – Goingmerry.com has several different scholarships that students can apply for. Each month the scholarships change.

Student Scholarships.org – This website offers several different scholarships. The scholarships change from month to month.

Early Childhood Education – John A. Logan College is offering a program in Early Childhood Education. There is a shortage of workers for child care centers in southern Illinois and for public schools. John A. Logan will pay for your schooling. That’s how desperate they are for workers. Information is available in the Guidance Office.

Displaced Energy Worker Dependent Transition Scholarship Program – The Illinois Student Assistance Commission has launched the Displaced Energy Worker Dependent Transition Scholarship Program. The scholarship pays tuition and fee costs at public colleges or community colleges for one calendar year. Scholarship applications are available on the Illinois Student Assistance Commission website.

St. Louis Area Mensa Scholarship – Students planning to earn a degree in a mental health related field are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Eligible majors include, but are not limited to psychology, counseling, social work and psychiatric nursing. The scholarship is for $1,000. The application, essay and transcript must be received by March 18, 2024. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Harrisburg Kiwanis Club Scholarship – The Harrisburg Kiwanis Club will offer two $500 scholarships to Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) to a graduating Senior at Harrisburg High School. Applicants must be a member of Key Club in good standing. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Applications must be completed and returned to Mr. McKinstry in the Guidance Office by April 1, 2024. SIU Carbondale Art and Design Scholarship Competition SIU Carbondale’s School of Art and Design is presenting a statewide online art competition to celebrate the immense talent and creativity of Illinois high school juniors and seniors. The art competition carries up to $6,000 in SIU scholarshships to students in three art media categories – 2D, 3D and digital art and design. Illinois high school art and design teachers are invited to submit works by no more than five current juniors or seniors from their schools. The submission deadline is Feb. 2, 2024.

Maron Memorial Health Foundation Scholarship – This scholarship is for students interested in a health career. Marion Memorial Health Foundation will be giving $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from area high schools. All information has to be turned in to Mr. McKinstry by February 29, 2024. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Gallatin-Saline Retired Teachers Association Scholarship - This year a $500 college scholarship will be awarded to a student from Gallatin or Saline County who plans to become a teacher. Qualifications and the application are available in the Guidance Office. See Mr.McKinstry for applications. Applications for the scholarship must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2024.

SIU Credit Union Scholarship – SIU Credit Union will be offering ten $1,000 scholarships for 2024. All applications for the 2024 Scholarship Program must be submitted no later than Friday, March 29, 2024. Scholarship winners will be announced in May 2024. To obtain a scholarship application, visit www.siucu.org/scholarship or stop by a local SIU Credit Union branch. More information is available in the Guidance Office.

2024 Illinois DCFS Scholarship Program – The DCFS Scholarship Program is available to youth who have an open DCFS case, whose cases were closed through adoption or guardianship or who aged out of care at 18 or older. Youth who are at least 16 years old on March 31 may apply. Through the program, a minimum of 53 academic scholarships will be awarded to current and former youth in care for the upcoming school year. For more information see Mr. McKinstry in the Guidance Office. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2024.
