Competition to Create a Google Doodle Based on Kindness

Doodle for Google offers K–12 students an opportunity to display their artwork on Google.com. In addition to having their work featured on the tech company’s landing page for an entire day, the winner will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, and the winner’s school will be awarded a $50,000 technology package. Doodle for Google is organized around a different theme every year; the 2020 contest asks participants, “How do you show kindness?” A panel of judges, among them Rodney Robinson, the 2019 National Teacher of the Year, will narrow the winners from each state and grade group based on artistic merit, creativity, and theme communication. The public will then vote for their favorite doodle. Parents, teachers, nonprofits, and afterschool programs are welcome to enter artwork on behalf of students. If the national winner is enrolled in a homeschool, the homeschool will receive $5,000 in value toward Chromebooks for Education and/or tablets with Google Play for Education. The national winner may then donate $45,000 in value toward the establishment or improvement of a computer lab or a technology program for a public library or public school in their community.

Deadline: Online and mailed submissions are being accepted until 8:00 p.m. (PT) on March 13, 2020.
