This year, we are providing you with a weekly parent/guardian newsletter to try and keep you informed about HMS events. It will also include reminders and other information. Our first This Week at HMS for parents/guardians is attached.
HMS Cross Country tryouts are on Thursday, August 19 at 4:00 pm at HMS. Students need a current physical (within 395 days of their last physical) in order to try out. Please bring the physical with you to tryouts. For more information contact Coach James Herren or Athletic Director, Kyle McGowan.
We are looking forward to seeing our HMS students tomorrow morning! I am attaching the bell schedule for HMS and WE WILL BE FOLLOWING THE 2:00 SCHEDULE UNTIL AFTER LABOR DAY.
If you are dropping your child off at school, please remember that the first lane closest to the school is for buses only. You may use the second or third lane or the lane closest to the road. Wait until you get to the crosswalk to let them out and remind your child to use the crosswalk at all times when walking across the parking lot.
If you will be picking your child up in the afternoon, they will be dismissed at 1:50 pm. Bus riders will be dismissed at 2:00 pm. For students riding the bus to East or West Side after school, the shuttle bus is #22. For students riding the bus to the High School after school, the shuttle bus is #14.

Reminder to all HMS Parents/Guardians: Registration is this week Monday through Thursday from 8:30 - 3:00 and Monday evening from 5:00 - 6:30 at HMS. Enter through the front doors under the awning.
Monday is for new students. Tuesday is 8th grade registration. Wednesday is 7th grade registration and Thursday is 6th grade registration. Anyone can come on Monday evening. If you have a child in more than one grade level, you may register them on the same day. Please have your packet complete in order to expedite the process. If you intend to purchase Chromebook insurance, you may pay $30 cash or make your check payable to HMS. For more information, contact the HMS office.

Registration will take place on the following dates and times at HMS (in front under the awning) as follows:
8:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday - Thursday and
Evening Hours: 5:00 - 6:30 pm on MONDAY ONLY for any grade level
Monday, Aug 9: Registration for NEW Students to the district
Tuesday, Aug 10: 8th Grade Registration
Wednesday, Aug 11: 7th Grade Registration
Thursday, Aug 12: 6th Grade Registration
Friday, Aug 13: Office Closed
If you have students in more than one grade level at HMS, feel free to register them on the same day. If you are unable to make your registration date, you may come on any of the other registration dates.
If you have not picked up a registration packet, you may pick one up on Wednesday, August 4 or Thursday, August 5 from 8:00 - 3:00 and 8:00 - 12:00 on Friday at the HMS office. These packets will not be mailed out and must be completed prior to registration.

Open gym for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls interested in playing basketball next year will be in the HMS gym on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:00 - 7:00 pm starting June 7. It will also be open some Saturday mornings from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Contact Coach Nicholes if you have questions.
Open gym for any current 6th or 7th grade boy interested in playing basketball next year will be in the HMS gym on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm starting on June 7th and ending on June 30th. Contact Coach Questelle if you have questions.
The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony is tonight at 5:00 pm in Davenport Gym at the high school. Students will enter through door #24 and proceed to the cafeteria. Parents and other family members will enter through door #21 or #22. Each student received 8 tickets today for family to attend. Please bring these tickets with you. For those who are not able to attend, it will be live streamed on the HMS Athletics YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_AexpblqekCPx9-hiclgug
Reminder to HMS 8th Grade Parents/Guardians: Promotion Ceremony practice is this morning at 9:00 am in Davenport Gym at HHS. In person students will be bussed to HHS. Remote students should report directly to Davenport Gym this morning at 9:00. All 8th grade students can be picked up at Davenport Gym at 10:30 am by a parent/guardian/or a person on their emergency contact card. There will be sign out sheets inside the gym. No student will be allowed to leave until they are signed out. This practice is required. Contact the HMS office if you have questions.
HHS Tours and Promotion Ceremony Information for 8th Grade Parents/Guardians: The 8th grade students will go to HHS tomorrow for tours. Any remote student who would like to take the tour, please report to the HMS office no later than 8:00 am in the morning. Remote students will return to HMS around 9:30 and can be picked up at that time.
On Tuesday, May 18, 8th graders will practice at HHS for their Promotion Ceremony. Remote students will report to the Davenport Gym at 9:00 am for practice. All students who intend to go through the Promotion Ceremony must be at practice that morning. They can be picked up at 10:30. T-shirts, masks and tickets for the Promotion Ceremony will be handed out that day.

Reminder that today is 8th Grade Honors Day in the gym at 9:00 am. Parents/family may attend - only 4 people per student and masks are required. May 19 is 6th and 7th grade Honors Day. 6th Grade will be at 9:00 and 7th Grade will be at 10:00 in the gym. Four people per student may attend and masks are required.
