The HMS Girls' Soccer team defeated the Carterville Lions 1-0 to win the Southern Illinois Middle School Soccer Championship!
Honors Day for 6th and 7th grade students will be held tomorrow, May 23 at 9:00 am at HMS. All students who are on Honor Roll or have a 4.0 will also receive an award. Families are welcome to attend this event.
8th grade parents/guardians, in case you missed the letter sent out in April and the message sent out yesterday regarding the promotion ceremony and promotion ceremony practice, 8th grade students need to be in the cafeteria at Harrisburg High School at 4:45 tonight. They will wear their class t-shirts. They need to leave their cell phones with a parent/guardian. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm in Davenport Gym at HHS.
8th Grade students will have mandatory practice for their promotion ceremony on Monday, May 19 from 8:45 - 10:30 in Davenport Gym at Harrisburg High School. Students will be transported to HHS by bus. Students will be dismissed for the day at 10:30 am from Davenport Gym to allow them time to prepare for the ceremony. Parents/guardians may park outside the gym and wait for them to be dismissed. As students are being dismissed early, they will be allowed to leave as they would at the end of a day at HMS. There will be no need to sign them out so let your child know the plan for pickup as they will not be returning to HMS.

Don't forget tomorrow is Fun Day at HMS. We are planning to be outside.
Dress for the weather as it is supposed to be hot. Also, don't forget your sunscreen. Wear socks if you plan to get on the inflatables. Students may bring money for concessions. We will be selling Dilly Bars, Red, White & Blue Stars and sodas. All proceeds will be used for future student activities.
Congratulations to the HMS Girls' Soccer team! They defeated Marion 4-3 in their semi-final game last night. They advance to the Championship game that is currently scheduled for 6:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20 at HMS vs Carterville.
Congratulations to Leah Phelps and Ava Harbison on a great State Golf Tournament showing. Leah finished with a 107 and Ava finished with a 110. Great job, girls!
Sam Davis represented HMS well today in the SIJHSAA State Golf Tournament at Kokopelli Golf Club. He finished with an even 100. Great job, Sam! ⛳️
Mr. Boglino has a limited number of extra yearbooks on sale for $30. Anyone interested in purchasing one should bring their money to him in the Media Center ASAP.
8th grade parents who are attending the Holiday World trip must pick up their tickets at the HMS office before 3:30 today (May 12).
The HMS girls’ and boys’ track team competed at the Class L State Track Meet today. All three boys that competed today set personal records. The girls finished in 9th place overall and got many personal records. We are so proud of this talented group of young men and women. Great job!

This morning we recognized HMS students who qualified for State in track and golf. The track team members will be competing tomorrow at Carterville High School. The golf team members will be competing Monday and Tuesday at Kokopelli Golf Club in Marion. Congratulations and good luck to all athletes!
Activities Awards Day for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 9:00 am at HMS. All students who participated in athletics (baseball, softball, cross country, cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, bowling, track, golf, soccer and Special Olympics) and/or activities (Art Club, Builders Club, Bulldog Bark & Brew, House Leaders, Junior Purple Clarion, Scholar Bowl, Student Council and Student Leadership Team) will receive certificates that day. Families are welcome to attend this event.
Our HMS students are having a great time at the Rush Party Dance. This is a reminder that the dance ends at 7:00 pm. See you soon.
Any parent that has signed up to chaperone the 8th grade trip to Holiday World should pick their ticket up from the HMS office by Monday. Your child can pick it up for you, but he/she is responsible for any lost tickets. Student tickets will be handed out on the day of the trip.
