Baseball and softball pictures are scheduled for August 25. Individual pictures will be taken at the school starting at approximately 1:00. The team pictures will be taken at the fields after school.

There will be an HMS Baseball parent meeting on Tuesday, August 5th at 6:00 pm in the commons area at HMS.

HMS softball open fields are canceled for today, July 24, due to the heat. Open fields will resume on Tuesday, July 29 from 5:00-6:30 pm.
Important information regarding HMS baseball and softball tryouts:
Baseball tryouts will be Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1 at 9:00 am at Jay Thompson Field (Dorris Heights).
Softball tryouts will be Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the park field (Centerfield diamond). Softball open fields will be held on July 22nd, 24th and 29th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Open fields are optional.
Any student trying out must have an updated physical prior to tryouts as well as a signed insurance packet. Incoming 6th grade students are required by Illinois law to have a school physical. Incoming 7th and 8th grade students trying out will need a sports physical. All required forms can be found on the school website (click on HMS Athletics).

The HMS Girls' Soccer team defeated the Carterville Lions 1-0 to win the Southern Illinois Middle School Soccer Championship!
Honors Day for 6th and 7th grade students will be held tomorrow, May 23 at 9:00 am at HMS. All students who are on Honor Roll or have a 4.0 will also receive an award. Families are welcome to attend this event.
8th grade parents/guardians, in case you missed the letter sent out in April and the message sent out yesterday regarding the promotion ceremony and promotion ceremony practice, 8th grade students need to be in the cafeteria at Harrisburg High School at 4:45 tonight. They will wear their class t-shirts. They need to leave their cell phones with a parent/guardian. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm in Davenport Gym at HHS.
8th Grade students will have mandatory practice for their promotion ceremony on Monday, May 19 from 8:45 - 10:30 in Davenport Gym at Harrisburg High School. Students will be transported to HHS by bus. Students will be dismissed for the day at 10:30 am from Davenport Gym to allow them time to prepare for the ceremony. Parents/guardians may park outside the gym and wait for them to be dismissed. As students are being dismissed early, they will be allowed to leave as they would at the end of a day at HMS. There will be no need to sign them out so let your child know the plan for pickup as they will not be returning to HMS.

Don't forget tomorrow is Fun Day at HMS. We are planning to be outside.
Dress for the weather as it is supposed to be hot. Also, don't forget your sunscreen. Wear socks if you plan to get on the inflatables. Students may bring money for concessions. We will be selling Dilly Bars, Red, White & Blue Stars and sodas. All proceeds will be used for future student activities.
Congratulations to the HMS Girls' Soccer team! They defeated Marion 4-3 in their semi-final game last night. They advance to the Championship game that is currently scheduled for 6:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20 at HMS vs Carterville.
Congratulations to Leah Phelps and Ava Harbison on a great State Golf Tournament showing. Leah finished with a 107 and Ava finished with a 110. Great job, girls!
