Girls Basketball:
There will be an open gym tomorrow from 5:30-7:30 pm for any student interested in trying out. Tryouts will be Wednesday, September 27 and Thursday, September 28 from 5:30-7:30.
Boys Basketball:
Tryouts will be Monday, October 2 and Tuesday, October 3 from 3:15-5:15.
All athletes must have a current physical and signed paperwork (permission to participate, insurance, and concussion) in order to tryout.
HMS parents, we will be practicing our intruder drill on Wednesday, September 20 at approximately 9:30 am. We will have our state required drill on Monday, September 25. This is a change from the original date of the drill. If you wish to opt your child out of this drill, you will find a form on the Harrisburg Unit 3 website at www.harrisburg3.org or you can contact the HMS office for a form. Contact the HMS office if you have questions.

HMS will offer free tutoring for HMS students Monday through Thursday beginning on September 18. There will be two sessions: Before school from 7:00 - 8:00 am and after school from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. At risk students will receive letters on Monday regarding tutoring but all students who need help may attend. Please do not drop your child off before 7:00 am for the morning session and students must be picked up at or before 4:30 pm from the afternoon session. Students who attend tutoring for the first time this year will receive a contract that must be signed by the student and parent/guardian in order for the student to continue receiving free tutoring. Contact the HMS office for additional information.
8th Grade Night for the Baseball Team will be on Monday, September 11, immediately prior to the game against Benton. We will begin at approximately 3:45 p.m. Parents/guardians are asked to be at the field by 3:30 p.m. and we will announce when it’s time to line up.
8th Grade Night for the Softball Team will be on Monday, September 18, immediately prior to the game against Eldorado. More information will be provided to softball parents soon and forms will be sent home after the game tonight.

Reminder: Tomorrow, September 1st, is the last day to purchase Chromebook insurance for the 2023-2024 school year. Payment in the amount of $30 can be made in the office or you may send it to school with your child.

Cross Country practice for today has been cancelled. There will be a meeting tomorrow at 4:00 pm for uniforms.
The HMS baseball and softball games scheduled for tonight at 6:00 have been canceled. They will be rescheduled for a later date.
Cross Country will be practicing at 4:00 today. Coach Herren has advised that practice will only last for 30 minutes due to the heat. Additionally, he will practice them in the shade and water will be provided. Contact Coach Herren if you have questions.

Any middle school student planning to attend the purple and white football game tonight and any future football game at HHS MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Baseball and softball pictures are Monday right after school. All team members will have their individual picture taken at HMS first. The team pictures will be at the field after the individual pictures are done. NO payment is due on Monday - you will receive an online order form in about 3 weeks.
If your child did not sign up for cross country today, they may do so tomorrow. All paperwork must be completed in order to participate. Practice will be Monday-Friday 4:00 pm-5:00 pm, beginning tomorrow. There will be a parent meeting on Monday, August 21 at 4:45 pm.

The baseball game with Gallatin County scheduled for today has been cancelled due to the incoming weather. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 am. Also, the baseball and softball games scheduled for tomorrow at Massac County will now be played at our fields at 4:30 pm. Baseball players should be at the field at 2:00 pm.
HMS Parents, this is a reminder that 8th grade registration is today, 7th grade registration is Monday, August 7 and 6th grade registration is Tuesday, August 8 from 8:30 - 2:30 at HMS. Enter through the front doors under the awning. If you have completed registration online there is no need for 7th and 8th grade students/parents to attend registration unless you plan to pay fees in person. They will pick up their schedules on the first day of school, August 14. We have computers available for those who do not have Internet at home or need help with the registration process. 6th grade students will receive their schedules at registration and tours of the building will also be available that day. All students will pick up their Chrome Books on the first day of school. Contact the HMS office if you have questions.
